Chiplet Center of Excellence becomes first cluster in newly founded Chiplet Application Hub

In March 2025, the Chiplet Application Hub was founded by the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD). The aim is to grow the hub into a significant national center for the development of chiplet technology with a view to bolstering microelectronics research in Europe. The first cluster in the hub is the Chiplet Center of Excellence, which was founded in Dresden in 2023.

 

Reinforcement of Saxon research into chiplet innovations as part of the APECS pilot line

The Saxon microelectronics institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are expanding their technological capacities in the area of chiplet innovation and are making a key contribution to the APECS pilot line within the framework of the European Chips Act. To this end, the Free State of Saxony is providing 38 million euros of funding, for which Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer presented a symbolic check on January 30, 2025.
